Farallon National Wildlife Refuge

The Farallon Islands sit 30 miles off San Francisco’s coast—wild, windswept, and off-limits to visitors. This refuge protects the largest seabird nesting colony south of Alaska and a quarter million breeding seals and sea lions. You can’t set foot here, but these rocks are critical habitat doing essential work. Rep a refuge most people will never see but should definitely know about.
